Privacy Policy

Weed Mapper is a friendly guide to Amsterdam's coffeeshops. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy question or request, contact us at privacy@weedmapper.nl.

We are a guide, not a shop. We do not sell, supply, or broker anything, and we do not process payments.

We only collect what the features you use require:

• Account data. If you create an account or sign in (including with Google), we receive your email address and a display name.
• Profile data (optional). A city, country, age and sex that you choose to add, plus your visibility settings for them.
• Favourites. The shops you save. Saved locally in your browser when you are logged out, or to your account when logged in.
• Lit Spots. If you drop a spot: a title, an optional note, an optional photo, and the map location you pin.
• Reviews. A rating and any text you submit.
• Technical data. Standard server and security logs (for example IP address and browser type) generated by our hosting provider, plus local storage used to remember your age confirmation and language preference.

To provide the service: to run your account, show your favourites, display the spots and reviews you publish, remember your preferences, and keep the site secure and working.

We rely on performance of a contract to run your account and features you request, your consent where you choose to publish content or make profile details public (which you can withdraw at any time), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and functional.

We use local storage and essential cookies to keep you signed in, remember your saved shops, language, and your 18+ confirmation. These are necessary for the site to work. We also use Contentsquare analytics cookies to see how pages are used (heatmaps and anonymised session statistics) so we can improve the site — only if you allowed them on the 18+ screen. You can change that here at any time. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

We share data only with providers that help us run the service:

• Supabase — authentication and database (accounts, favourites, spots, reviews).
• Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery.
• Contentsquare — usage analytics: heatmaps and anonymised session statistics.
• Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.

We never sell your personal data.

Some of our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, appropriate safeguards (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) apply.

We keep account and content data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or your content, we remove it, except where we must keep limited records to comply with the law or resolve disputes.

Under the GDPR you can request access to your data, correction, deletion, a copy (portability), and you can object to or restrict certain processing. You can edit your profile and remove your favourites, spots and reviews at any time from your account. To exercise any right, email privacy@weedmapper.nl. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Weed Mapper is for adults only. You must be 18 or older to use it. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "last updated" date above when we do.
